Project FOSTERCARE
Welcome to our FOSTERCARE Erasmus+ project website dedicated to enhancing the support for foster families and professional educators across Europe! Our mission is multidimensional, aiming to understanding and supporting the vital role of foster families in providing temporary care for children who cannot reside with their natural families. Foster families play a crucial role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in need, offering essential care, support, and stability during challenging times.
Children may enter foster care due to various circumstances, such as abuse, neglect, or abandonment by their biological parents. Foster families, whether related to the child or not, undergo training and licensure by the government to ensure they can provide a secure and supportive home environment. The overarching objective of foster care is to offer children a safe haven until they can be reunited with their biological family or placed with an adoptive family.
Investing in professional development not only benefits the children but also supports the well-being and job satisfaction of those working in the field. By offering training and development opportunities, professionals feel valued and empowered, leading to increased retention rates and higher-quality care for children in foster families.
Ultimately, by prioritizing the qualifications of professionals working with foster families, we aim to advance the field, promote best practices, and enhance policies and procedures to better support both foster families and the children in their care.
Together, we can create a brighter future for children in need and recognize the invaluable contributions of foster families in our communities.
To achieve these goals, we are implementing a range of strategies.
– Firstly, we will develop the European Reference Framework on Foster Family, providing a comprehensive guide to best practices and standards in foster care.
– Additionally, we will design Innovative Training Models tailored for professionals and adult educators in the field, equipping them with the necessary tools to support foster families effectively.
Our commitment to accessibility and innovation extends to the digital aspects, as we prepare Digital and Open-Source tools to enhance parenting skills through self-study modules. We will also produce engaging Digital Content and Videos to raise awareness about the foster family process, ensuring that vital information reaches a wide audience. More information under Results.
Furthermore, we recognize the importance of fostering a sense of community among foster families. To facilitate communication and support networks, we will establish a dedicated Digital Platform where families can connect, share experiences, and access resources.
Our efforts result in tangible results that benefit both professionals and families involved in foster care. Have a look under Results for more information.
